Background
I am a Toronto based freelance web developer with more than 10 years of experience in Canada and the UK as producer, project manager, information architect, animator, designer, and creative writer. I make rich-media websites, online stores, e-learning activities, and interactive games.
I spent seven years TVOntario as a producer, programmer, designer, and new media specialist. Several of the projects with which I was involved received awards, including the Macromedia (now Adobe) site of the day (2x), the Yahoo Pick of the Week, and a Gemini.
After leaving TVOntario, I worked in London, England, as an IT engineer at the Sigma Group.
In 2004, I moved back to Toronto to start my own company. Since then, I have done projects for Zincroe Design, Nouvelocity INC, the African Canadian Legal Clinic, the Sigma Group, Ideo Media, and the CBC.
My work is primarily focused on the web.
I make websites that address key business needs, such as:
- establishing/representing a corporate identity / brand
- enabling clear communication between businesses and their markets. This involves presenting information in a user-friendly architecture, writing fresh copy, collating, revising, culling and editing information from multiple sources, and organizing it into a cohesive and logical structure. It also involves the deployment of proactive communication systems that enable a business' market to communicate back to them.
- designing and building interactive web 2.0 applications that perform key business functions such as knowledge databases, discussion forums, social networking, scheduling, event registration)
- e-commerce applications
- online advertising
- designing and programming rich media applications, such as streaming video on the web, interactive games, or e-learning modules.
